Homeplot - 2

Six days had passed and every single morning, Danny woke up in a hotel bed in New Jersey. He keeps expecting his luck to change, but somehow it doesn't. Somehow, he keeps ending up exactly where he wants to be. It's weird. It's beyond weird, but he doesn't want to complain about a good thing. The one thing that shies away from good, though, is that the longer he stays (and the more family dinners he takes part in), the more he's realizing he's going to have to tell them about him and Steve.

Hell, he's also had a niggling idea in his mind, but he's tucking it away -- for now.

"Steve," he murmurs when it's Day Six and he wakes up at home, right where he belongs. "You up?" Danny's migrated to the other half of the bed to try and splay out, taking advantage of the sheer comfort that a hotel mattress provides.

"Like I said, Danno, you don't want to test me," Steve answers, stepping out of the shower and slinging another clean towel around his waist - a benefit of hotel living. "I'll find more than one use for those ties of yours."

Danny moves into the space that Steve's vacated, a pleased smirk on his face as he slicks back his hair and gets sudsy. "Yeah, I don't think so. I think you're way too bound to being a good and obedient SEAL to abuse me in bed that way. You're not kinky enough. I mean, Steve, I love you, but the weirdest stuff we do involves you getting possessive."

Steve keeps the curtain open, not even attempting to disguise his appreciation for what he's got standing right in front of him at the moment as he leans back against the bathroom sink.

"Abuse? I wouldn't look at it as abuse," he murmurs, his gaze descending. "I think it might actually be a long time coming."

Danny snorts and gives Steve an amused look. "Look, you get off on it," Danny points out. "I get it. That collar thing was hot, yeah, but it was me. You just like...you know, sex. Which is fine, it's hot, I like it," Danny says eagerly, "but come on. Admit it."

"Admit what? That I like sex? Is that what you want to hear? Fine, I admit it," Steve counters, turning to face the mirror and reaching for his toothbrush.

"Did I leave anything out?"

"You like the kinky stuff, but you don't initiate it," Danny says, lathering up and checking the clock as he goes. At this rate, they're bleeding out the morning and while they don't have anything to do, Danny wants to look at some of the paperwork involved in getting a civil ceremony done. "That's what I want you to admit."

"Well, let's put it this way," he replies. "The collar thing I didn't even know I liked until you, well - and as far as gagging you is concerned, I want to make sure it's something you want before I - "

He glances up, jamming the toothbrush back into his mouth.

Danny finishes with the shower, grabbing a towel for his hair before his body, leaning in to press a kiss to Steve's lips. "So, I'm thinking that I'll tell my parents we're engaged right around the point where they're drunk and I'm two steps from the door. Thoughts?"

"That could potentially go over well," Steve admits, mildly sarcastic as he tilts his head slowly, a grin making its way onto his expression before he spits and rinses and heads back into the bedroom to pick up where he left off with getting dressed.

"Now, where was I," he muses out loud, searching through drawers.

Danny watches Steve go with a bemused look on his face, heading back into the bedroom to wriggle into a pair of boxers, pulling on a pair of jeans with a button-down shirt and a tie, going for the whole sports-casual thing. "You care if we head over a bit early? Dad's got the good TV and we can watch a game. Ma won't even care that we're there early," he rambles as he sits on the edge of the bed and pulls on his socks.

"Sure they won't mind?" Steve asks, though he's stepping into a pair of slacks and reaching for a belt that works before following it up with a nicer polo, idly running a hand over his head. "Gonna need a haircut soon," he laments, eyeing his own reflection in the mirror above the dresser.

Danny yanks on a sports coat as he makes his way to Steve and gives his hair a soft yank so he can evaluate the length. "I don't know," he muses. "I don't really mind it when it's getting long. It's not like the Navy's going to bust down the front door and cut it, are they? No, seriously, babe. Are they? Because I'd like to be prepared for that."

"The Navy doesn't enforce reg - " Steve starts, before he realizes Danny's pulling his leg and clams up, standing up a little straighter even while he tries to lean into the touch of fingers combing through his hair. "I'm just saying that it might be something I'd like to get taken care of before the wedding."

Danny smirks at Steve, reaching up a little higher to smooth his fingers through the strands. "Which means I won't be able to pull on it on the wedding night," he reminds Steve, as if a bit dismayed. He grabs the keys from the dresser, inclining his head to get them to get moving.

"You can pull other things," Steve replies, lifting an eyebrow before he squeezes past Danny in order to get to the front door, slipping on a nicer pair of dress shoes to head out in. "Should we bring anything with us? Is that something we need to do?"

Danny flashes a smirk in Steve's direction. "Cute," he appraises, running a hand through his hair to make sure it's fine. "Nah, we brought dessert the other night. Besides, if I brought something and Ma didn't like it, I'd never hear the end of it."

"Is she picky, or do you just have a habit of not buying the right wine?" Steve asks, reaching out to snake fingers through Danny's beltloop and tugging him in at the doorway, his other hand chucking up underneath his chin before he plants a kiss squarely against his lips.

Danny lets out a whined muffle, kissing Steve back and pressing his palms on either side of Steve's shoulders as he leans in and deepens the kiss slightly. "She's just picky," he says defensively, kissing Steve's cheek once more before easing away. "Come on, I'm gonna miss the first quarter."

"What's that saying about the apple not falling too far from the tree? Maybe in this case, it's more of a coconut," Steve muses out loud, grinning broadly. "Come on," he adds, clapping Danny on the shoulder. "Let's get out of here."

"I swear to god, I did not just hear you compare me to a coconut because if you did, the consequences would be beyond dire, Steven," he warns, closing the hotel door firmly behind them, keys in his pocket as he heads downstairs. "You know, Rachel must be fuming about now."

"You noticed that, huh?" Steve murmurs, not even trying to hide the grin that comes over his expression whenever he manages to get Danny riled, even for a couple seconds. "Which Rachel?"

"Ex-Rachel," he says, with a blown out sigh. "She and I were both miserable during this whole period. She's gonna be pissed that I'm happy and engaged and...well, that you make me this ridiculously goofy."

"Well, unless she's planning on coming by tonight - is she planning on coming by?" Steve asks, wondering if there's something he doesn't know about this particular get-together. "Maybe we should hold off on saying anything if it's going to make her upset."

"No, no, god, no, Ma hates her right now," Danny says. "I mean, if you think I was pissed at her, then you have no idea. My mother is three times as angry," he says, opening the car and sliding into the driver's seat before Steve can do it.

"Oh. I guess that's something of a relief, then," Steve replies, smiling slowly when Danny takes a seat behind the wheel, though he doesn't say anything whatsoever as he walks around to get into the passenger's side.

"Well, we don't want to be late," he murmurs, glancing Danny's way.
