Danny is so through with this whole island. Not only does it practically steal Steve out from under his nose what with the whole injury thing, but after Danny got him home and proceeded to show him just why he should be in good shape, then, then he left maybe one too many hickeys and Steve is exactly the kind of idiot who doesn't cover it up.

So now, now Kono knows. She has to know. She'd taken one long hard look at Steve's neck after Danny had slung his arm around his shoulders. And because Kono knows, well, then Chin does, and god knows that their extended family (which Danny is pretty sure makes up the whole island) knows, too.

He's steaming, still, and he's taken a break from the office to head to his place and just pace it out, running his hands through his hair as he tries to figure out if he's being freakishly paranoid, aware that maybe his poor reaction has done half the work. Now Kono is gonna tell people and the Governor will pull him off the task force and he's gonna have to leave the island and then how's he gonna see Gracie, huh? How?

"Oh god, what are you, how are you being so endearing when I want to punch you at the same time," Danny groans, right into the kiss, leaning into his body and trying to hold onto Steve while settling his body at the same time. "I am going to tell on Chin that you are secretly a big mooshy goof."

"Just talented, I guess," Steve replies, a teasing tone in it as he pulls back, his thumb sweeping over the fullness of Danny's lower lip, and God, just the way his mouth looks when it's been thoroughly kissed is enough to get him half-hard right there, but he has to mentally put the brakes on, remembering Grace upstairs. "Sure you are."

Danny lets out a low groan and slides his hand into Steve's, twining their fingers together as he tugs him away and down the hallway to get closer to the lanai. "C'mon," he murmurs. "And I will totally tell Chin on you, do not even begin to doubt me."

Steve just squeezes the hand in his, allowing Danny to lead him in whatever direction he chooses. "And just what makes you think Chin will listen to you, hmm?"

"Because despite people's thoughts in the direction of the opposite, I am totally the rational and sane member of our partnership. Clearly, Chin will believe me when I tell him that you secretly plan your wedding and coo at babies," Danny says with a smirk, pushing Steve outside in the direction of the hammock he tends to use.

"Really?" Steve says, genuinely amused and barely managing to keep the smirk off his own lips when Danny declares his own sanity. "I wonder how he'll take the news of the real truth about me."

"He will probably say 'ah' and then 'that explains a lot'," Danny continues, making sure he can see whether the guest room light is going to go on before pushing Steve back into the hammock. "Get in, you big lug."

"Or he'll just be saying that to pacify you."

Steve nearly flips over in the hammock before regaining his bearings, and he glances up at Danny with something resembling curiosity, but he lays back and kicks his boots off, resting an arm behind his head and assuming the position of relaxation.

Danny bends over to pry off his shoes, climbing in after Steve and making sure that he has a little room to straddle him. "Anyone ever tell you that you'd make a great father, McGarrett?"

It's all Steve can do not to scoff, leaning back to counter the added weight on the hammock and pressing to one side to make sure they don't flip as Danny settles in over him. "You're joking, right?"

"I'm really not, Steve," Danny says honestly, sitting up and stripping off his t-shirt, letting it dangle over the edge. "I'm not sure I have ever been more turned on by you carrying Grace inside tonight."

His gaze drops to Danny's chest, his torso, and he lifts his arms to run his hands over them, mapping out the contours of Danny's body by touch alone, swallowing visibly. "That was less than two minutes, Danny. How do you get 'good parent' from less than two minutes?"

"Okay, setting aside your incapability of being a good cop and good potential father at the same time," Danny clarifies, fingers fidgeting to get his belt loose, "You've been great with kids. I mean, look at our cases lately. You're doing great. You're...you're good," he says, voice tender and soft as he lets the belt join the pile over the edge of the hammock.

"Given where we are and what you're doing, I'm not going to fight you on this one," Steve decides, his palms sliding up Danny's front, fingertips skimming across the muscles of his chest and then down along his arms, reaching for one hand to take it into his own. "God, Danny, do you know what you do to me," he mutters.

"I'm actually occasionally unclear," Danny has to admit, turning Steve's hand in his to press a kiss to the back of it fondly and tenderly, reaching down to loosen the button of Steve's pants.

"Really?" Steve murmurs, one eyebrow rising slightly, reaching up to pull Danny down to him, his free hand quite blatantly squeezing his ass. "Because I thought I was making it pretty obvious."

"Babe, your obvious is not earthlings' obvious. You have enigmatic SEAL thing going on half the time." Not that Danny is having troubles at that exact moment. He grinds back into Steve's hand, belatedly realizing..."Ah. Hey, Steve, be patient and hold tight, okay?" he insists, crawling up out of the hammock.

Steve will admit to being slightly curious when Danny pulls away from him then and gets up out of the hammock, though he remembers to shift his weight accordingly to keep the hammock facing upright and then leans back again, giving in to the relaxing sway before it goes still again. "Enigmatic SEAL thing," he echoes, chuckling quietly.

Danny isn't gone very long. He checks all the doors, locks the front and keeps a key in his pocket. He's still wandering around shirtless, so when he peeks in on Grace, it's very quick. Then it's one last stop to Steve's bedroom and back outside, standing and looming over the edge of the hammock. He tosses the blanket to the ground and extends a hand to Steve. "Up you come."

Steve'll admit to being even more curious now about what Danny potentially has in mind, but Danny's gone along with enough of his harebrained ideas on faith alone, so he can quell the curiosity or the urge to ask questions right now, and he takes Danny's hand to hoist himself out of the hammock, shoving his feet back into his boots. "Dare I even ask?"

"Maybe, maybe if I had met you when I was sixteen and I was just two inches shorter with a lot more muscles," Danny says, gesturing to his pectorals, "And I did have a lot more muscles back then, maybe I could manage the hammock." He bends over to stretch out the blanket, lying back on it, propped up by his elbows. "But I am not sixteen, nor am I that muscle-bound hunk." He shifts to dig through his pocket and takes out both condoms and lube and a tie.

"Danny, you wouldn't have wanted to meet me when I was sixteen," Steve admits, halfway through lacing up his boots when he notices he doesn't have to, and he does a quick double-check to make sure the house is quiet before closing the sliding door that separates the lanai from the living room, joining Danny on the blanket. The backyard is mostly quiet, too, the sound of the water quietly lapping against the shore their only background noise.

"But I wouldn't necessarily say there's no muscle whatsoever," he replies, fingers catching along his partner's stubbly jaw and turning Danny's face towards his to kiss him.

Danny can't help his smirk as he fumbles through his other pocket and digs out one of the pictures from back then, pressing it into Steve's palm before tossing the wallet with everything else. He kisses Steve good and hard, letting his fingers trail against his neck and stay there.

When the kiss breaks, Steve looks down at the picture in his hand and can't help smiling at the sight of young, rebellious-looking (and yes, slightly more muscled) Danny. "Whoa, babe," he murmurs, tilting his head back into Danny's touch, "nice muscle tank."

Danny snatches the picture back and smirks at Steve, flicking it aside as he gets a condom and lube pressed into one of Steve's hands, the tie in the other. "Yeah, yeah, I'll show you the whole album later, but right now, you're gonna gag me."
