So here is the thing.

It has been six months of being a thing with Steve. Five months, near-death experiences on both of their parts, and moving in together without killing each other. So, you know, on a list of things that are pretty good, their relationship is up there. And you know, Danny doesn't mind things as they are, but there's been that niggling sense in the back of his head as he worries about hospital visits and the growing control freak in him is worried slightly that Steve is gonna do something stupid (likely), get himself in the hospital (very likely), and then Danny's not gonna have any rights to see him or get to make decisions for him.

Then there's the custody issue. The lawyers have implied that a stable home situation would improve things in the future if needed and it's one of those just in case things. It's not that Danny desperately wants to hitch up with Steve, but when he weighs out the pros and cons, it kind of nudges forward.

So being the brave guy that he is, he does what anyone not wanting a second wedding would do. He slides the paperwork into the middle of Steve's booking files, with little tabs telling Steve where to sign. He even puts post-it notes atop the heading. He just wants to file it and that's all.

Danny just grabs one of the trays and brings it with him, uncovering them until he finds a steak. "I mean, it's not like the ones in Jersey," he laments, but he knows it'll do and he takes it into hand, fork and knife, and settles down next to Steve, sliding his foot around to his calf and brushing up and down.

Steve settles in to his own meal, distinctly preferring the lobster, making a small sound of contentment when he notes the butter has already been melting over the top for him, and digs in, licking his fingers occasionally. "Yeah, but you can't get surf like this anywhere else."

"You, you are adorable," Danny observes with a grin. "You are just endearing and a bunch of other words that come to mind because look at you, look at this," he says, gesturing with the fork, his foot's grip on McGarrett just that much tighter. He digs in, worshipping the baked potato a little, but that's just because he hasn't had the means to exactly buy and prepare one lately.

"But I got you to thank for this, Danno, this is heaven right here," Steve confesses, cutting in to his own potato and blowing over a forkful before taking a bite and literally humming with happiness. "So good."

"Well," Danny says mildly, "Now I know that when you inevitably cheat on me, it's going to be with a sack of potatoes. Well, I'll tell you this, Steven, I am not letting the Idaho Spuds get my dignity."

"Yes," Steve agrees, around another mouthful of lobster, winking over at his partner. "You stick it to those spuds, Danny."

Danny shakes his head and lets his foot trail away from Steve's body, a little occupied with his own food for the moment. He digs into the meal, letting out a soft moan of delight at the steak being as rare as he likes, and he just hunches over to really enjoy.

He'd also asked for dessert, which is the seven-layer chocolate cake just waiting for him.

Steve's eyes double in size at the sight of the cake when it's finally unveiled, pushing his own empty plate away from him and leaning back in his chair.

"I don't know how you can even handle cake after all that," he says, stifling a burp behind his fist.

Danny's eyes are just on the cake and he leans forward and swipes a fingerful of frosting with his finger, slowly sucking it off with great intensity and dedication, going back for a second swipe. "I dunno, how about you taste it and tell me what you can handle."

Steve reaches out for Danny's hand, fingers sliding around his wrist, and lifts it to his mouth, lips wrapping around his finger to suck off the frosting, licking clean any lingering remnants of chocolate. His eyes never leave Danny's while he does so. "I think I could handle a few bites."

Danny lets out a shaky moan and he practically wants to be in Steve's lap in that instant. So you know, he kicks his chair back and does exactly that, settling in his lap, the hint of chocolate still on his lips and he tightens a hand through Steve's hair as he leans in to kiss him.

Steve has to push his chair back a little further from the table to fit Danny in his lap, but once he does, he's rewarded with a pretty hot kiss. Which Danny does a lot of, he thinks to himself. When it comes to hot kisses that are guaranteed to turn him on, his partner's are scorching. He reaches one hand out toward the cake, swiping a fingerful of frosting, and breaks the kiss to hold it up against Danny's lips.

"See, these, these are mixed messages," Danny complains, but he draws in Steve's finger, sucking it whole and then licking, taking it shallow before going deep again. "You want me fat," Danny accuses around the finger in his mouth.

"Nah," Steve manages, and then groans again because that right there, what Danny's doing with his mouth, could be classified as obscene in every culture. "I just know I can get you to work it off later. Burn those calories." He pulls his hand away only to replace it with his lips, tongue thrusting and licking into Danny's mouth.

It's a little bit vicious, is what Danny thinks of it. He groans heavily and could do this for hours, just making out with Steve, but right now he'll take possessive kisses. Danny eases away to smear more frosting over Steve's lips, darting in to lick and suck it off, practically devouring the other man.

It's messy, sticky, hot, and Steve wouldn't have it any other way. He outright moans into Danny's mouth, tasting chocolate and Danny and nothing else in the moment, and kisses him like he wants to devour him, one hand cupping the back of his neck, the other sliding down his front and working inside his jeans without unbuttoning them first.

Danny starts to take the opportunity to rock down and hard against Steve, especially when Steve gets his hand involved in the whole thing. He lets out a choked cry and pushes his hips down hard, fighting for friction. "Babe," he gasps.

"Yes, babe?" Steve's voice is innocent in contrast to what he's doing. He had promised to pick up where they had left off before room service interrupted, after all, and his hand slides around Danny's cock without any preamble, bicep flexing as he strokes him.

Danny practically sinks down into Steve's lap a little harder, his eyes falling shut. A couple of blissful murmurs pass over his lips as he just rides into that waiting hand, making him feel things that he honestly doesn't get elsewhere. No one does this like Steve.

He groans heavily, opening his eyes to memorize every reaction. "Mine," is all he gets out.

"Mmhmm," Steve hums, content and in agreement. He only stills his hand's movement because he has a greater picture in mind, and he appreciates the sight of Danny looking so disheveled, rendered undone by something he's doing to him.

"C'mon," he replies, nuzzling against his neck. "Let's go to bed."

Danny gives a disgruntled sound at the thought of being interrupted, but bed does sound inviting and the bed in this place is ridiculous. It's huge, it's twice the bed Danny needs anywhere else. "You are full of good ideas," he praises, slowly rising up from his seat in Steve's lap.

"I try," he says, leaving the dirty plates to take care of later but setting the cake aside, purely for eating purposes and maybe for some future teasing later, and strips off his shirt on the way to the bedroom, balling it up and tossing it on the floor, rolling his shoulders as he goes. This hotel room is private enough that they won't be disturbing anyone if Danny decides to give in to his noisy side.

Danny follows along, one hand hitching up his jeans so they don't fall off and make him look like some kind of nudist. He only gets as far as the bedroom before he strips off his tank and leaves the jeans unbuttoned, no boxers between the fabric and his skin. He settles at the foot of the bed, cracking his back by shoving his shoulders back. "I been going to the gym for you, you know that? That is how much I love you, I have gone to a gym."

"Just for me?" Steve says, stopping at the foot of the bed to stand in front of him, his hands smoothing over Danny's shoulders and down his arms before moving inward, running up his sides and then back down over the contours of his chest. "Very thoughtful of you, Daniel."

"Well, for you, and for the fact that my doctor maybe said I could relieve pressure from off my knee," Danny admits, letting out a slow sound of pleasure at Steve's hands. "So," he breathes out. "Want me to tell you all about the sexy tax breaks we're gonna get?"
