"What, rescue me?" Danny echoes his earlier words, a bemused look on his face as he takes his time to really spruce up Steve's hair, grabbing the last locks of it and cutting away, shaking both hands thoroughly through Steve's hair and pulling the towel out to do the same. "Yeah, you would. Everything with you is like a strategic op."

His head already feels a little lighter, the back of his neck cooler where the hair isn't so long anymore, and he scrunches up his face in a near-sneeze as hair flies everywhere. "Just so you know I'd do it," he promises, once the sneeze is just a false alarm.

"Well, Steve, I'm glad you wouldn't just leave me to rot somewhere," Danny says, setting the scissors aside as he starts to brush all of Steve's cut hair to the ground. He digs out a piece of metal to give Steve a reflective surface. "Check it out, see what you think. I'm sure someone could fix it if you hate it."

Steve takes the metal in hand, turning his head slightly from one side to the other to study what he can from the angle, reaching back with one hand to touch the back of his head, fingers running through the shorter strands. "Feels fine. Thanks, babe."

Danny collapses on the couch, legs up on the coffee table. He claps his hands to beckon Zulu into his lap, smirking at Steve and beckoning him in. "Hey, c'mere, I think I see some hair on your face, I should get that off."

"Yeah?" Steve asks, idly scratching the back of his head as he hoists his own feet up, mimicking Danny's leaning posture, and nudges a shoulder against his, grinning slowly. "Where?"

Danny smirks at him, one hand buried in Zulu's fur, and he takes his time to slowly brush away small, miniscule little strands of hair, nudging them out with blunt nails and blowing them off his fingertip. He leans in to press a kiss to every place that he rids a hair from.

Steve smiles at the gesture, turning his head to finally catch Danny's lips with his own when he starts nearing the corner of his mouth. He breaks away, still smiling, and slouches down on the couch, tipping his head to one side to rest on Danny's shoulder, his hand joining his partner's on the puppy's fur. "Liking the clothes tonight, D."

Danny can't help his smile of victory, turning to press his lips to Steve's forehead. "I don't really need to be in a tie now, huh? I'm just relaxing at home," he says, continuing to brush individual strands from off Steve's face. "Plus, it's goddamn hot out here. I might start going to bed shirtless, at this rate."

Steve can't help the smile that follows, making a noise of approval as he turns his head to nuzzle into Danny's cheek. "Please say that's less of a 'might' and more of a 'definitely will'."

"Look, I'm just saying that I get hot at night," he admits, glancing to his chest and gesturing to the hair, there. "And after sex, it's easy to go to bed in nothing, but I like the feel of pyjamas on my skin, you know? I like it."

"It does get warm," Steve agrees, nosing along Danny's jawline, his hand lifting to brush over the tendrils of Danny's chest hair peeking out over the tank top. "I prefer sleeping in shorts, at least, if I don't fall asleep before putting them on first. No shirt ever."

"Yeah," Danny deadpans, barely even arching his brow, "Somehow, I noticed your allergy to shirts." That and he's also noticed that Steve does tend to sleep naked. "You're so goddamn lucky we have no roommate otherwise you'd scar them with all your nudity and, and, I swear, if Rachel ever drops by unannounced, you're practically already giving her a show!"

"I'd put on some pants if I had to go to the door, at least," Steve promises, letting his head fall back against the couch cushions again, idly propping his beer on one knee. "No one but you is getting an eyeful."

"I dunno," Danny drawls lazily, stretching out his toes as he gets comfortable with the dog and Steve in his proximity. "Other people have seen the goods, just not here." He reaches over to steal Steve's beer from him, taking a long sip as he purses his lips around the neck, handing it back to him. "Though, I'm sure one day when you surf, there'll be a wardrobe malfunction, the way you surf."

Steve takes the beer back in hand, but doesn't lift it to his lips, casually resting it back against his leg and stretching out with a sigh. "What do you mean, the way I surf?" he mutters, eyes moving to look at Danny without turning his head. "What's wrong with the way I surf?"

"I'm just saying that the way you go all-in with your surfing and exercise, one day I'm gonna find you coming back to shore with nothing on, like you just sold your voice to a sea-witch for legs," he cracks, snaking the beer out of Steve's hands to steal a sip.

"Let's hope you're the one who stumbles across my dazed, naked body," Steve replies, all too casually for the way he eyes Danny with a soft grin, snagging the beer back for his own sip before Danny finishes it off.

Danny laughs out his protest, reaching for the beer, but ending up with his hand pressed to Steve's thigh idly, stretching out as far as he can. "Why? You don't want a handsome prince to take you away from your mean mermaid daddy?" Danny mocks.

"What can I say, Danno?" Steve murmurs, lips pinching into a slow grin against the top of the beer bottle, barely managing to swallow in his amusement. "I just want to be part of your world."

"Oh, god," Danny protests with a deep guffaw, a huge laugh coming straight from his belly, laughing until he's shaking with it and he has to press his forehead to Steve's shoulder to try and stifle the sound. "Steven!" he protests, smacking at his stomach. "I'm never gonna be able to watch that movie again."

"I only watched it the once, when Mary was little," Steve admits, turning his cheek against Danny's temple to steal a quick kiss there. "The song sort of stuck with me, and not in a good way." He sets the beer down after finishing it off, the empty bottle making a soft thwack against the wood of the handmade coffee table.

"The divorce didn't come through until Grace was six," Danny admits, giving Steve a look that implies he can deduce from there. "I've seen every Disney movie more times than I like to admit. I swear to god, at least she appreciates the classics, so I got to watch a good deal of Sleeping Beauty with all the Cinderella and Little Mermaid."

"Then you probably know all of those songs and then some," Steve replies, not even hiding his smile. "Oh, so you're a Sleeping Beauty fan, are you?"

"What, I can't admire some chivalry and a prince beating up a big ugly dragon?" Danny protests, lifting himself up from Steve's chest to get comfortable. "Not for the first time, I really wish we had a television here," he says with a heavy sigh as he stares at the blank wall. "Did you want me to sing you a song, Steven?"
