He's been working ever since he got the knee injury on stretching out muscles and ligaments around the thing to ensure it doesn't happen again. True, he lied his ass off to Helen about the how of it, but he doesn't like the idea of going back just to say 'and hey, happened again, more drugs?' Helen's been taking damn good care to make sure he's healing and Danny's not about to ignore stretches just because they get monotonous over time.

He's in a pair of orange board shorts alone and is in the shade just behind the hut. He figures once he's done, he'll take a quick dip to rinse the sweat off. Plus it'll make the damn puppy happy if they go in the water. He doesn't know exactly when it happened, but somehow, McGarrett converted the dog into a swimming idiot, too.

He's settling down precariously onto his shins, hands wedged behind his back as he inches further and further back, getting out a good stretch of his IT band in the thigh in order to try and loosen up some of the muscles and ligaments around the knee.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck," Danny breathes out when the stretch starts to radiate pain. "Too much."

Steve's had a little more tension in that shoulder since it healed, and he hisses quietly under Danny's fingertips, clenching his jaw and letting his head droop forward. Zulu has found a comfortable spot to stretch out on, over a pile of beach towels, his own eyes slowly falling closed. "You won't be," Steve whispers.

"Good," Danny hums out the word, digging his knuckles into Steve's skin when he finds a knot of tension in a nearby muscle. He leans down to press a kiss to the spot, brushing his other thumb slowly up and down the tendons of Steve's neck.

Steve groans audibly and slumps forward, rendered pliant under the repetitive kneading touch of Danny's fingertips, shivering openly when he combines it with the kisses of his mouth to send ripples of sensation along his shoulders and arms. "Good," he echoes, barely whispering.

"See, I was gonna make you sprawl out on the ground like the dog while I did this so I could straddle you and really get at your back," Danny says with a lamenting sigh and a shrug of his shoulders.

"What's stopping you?" Steve asks, lifting his head slightly to flash a grin over one shoulder in Danny's direction, and he can definitely summon up enough willpower to join Zulu on the towels, nudging the sleeping puppy to one side and stretching out on his stomach.

Danny laughs at that, following after Steve and standing above him. "Uh uh, get inside, I am not stripping down to nothing out here," is all he says before he goes inside the house.

Steve raises an eyebrow with obvious interest, plucking up Zulu and tucking him underneath one arm so the puppy doesn't wake up outside and alone, and brings him inside to put him down on his own bed, giving the furry head a fond scratching before he joins Danny in their room. "So you're stripping down, is that what you're telling me?"

"It's either that or you get wet shorts on your back," Danny points out, stepping out of the swimsuit and hanging it up in the bathroom before coming back to slide into a pair of black briefs, gesturing to the bed. "Lie down, babe."

"Hold on a second, I've got wet shorts too," Steve replies, quickly ditching his damp pair and slipping into a dry pair of dark blue mesh shorts, hitching them up over his hips before he slides across the bed onto his stomach, arms reaching up to rest beneath the pillows. "What inspired this urge?"

"You do it for me all the time," Danny says distractedly as he straddles Steve's waist from behind, settling in with his ass in the small of Steve's back before going to work up and down his spine. "Relationships are about reciprocity."

Even the mere pressure of Danny on his tailbone feels nice, and Steve shifts briefly beneath him, settling his hips flush against the bed underneath Danny's straddle, letting his eyes drift closed. "And I'm always grateful for that factor of our relationship," he murmurs drowsily, groaning low whenever Danny's fingertips linger on a knot.

"Aren't you, now," Danny teases as he grips hold of Steve's hips with both hands for a temporary moment. He follows that by spreading his palms and sliding them up Steve's back to start working at his neck and scalp, burying his fingers in Steve's hair before massaging firmly.

Steve may not have quite the visceral reaction that Danny gets with the tug of fingers in his hair, the deep massage of his scalp, but it comes pretty close, his back arching up slightly and the eventual roll of hips against the bed, fingers flexing underneath the pillows. "Oh, yeah," he breathes, but in response to Danny's teasing question and the massage itself.

Danny keeps working at Steve's back, amused by the intense reaction he's starting to encourage. He slides his hands down and returns to the shoulders, moving down the biceps and over the forearms before going back up again. "See? Now did you ever think you'd have someone to do this for you?"

"Not without some kind of monetary compensation," Steve murmurs absently, because he's sure he could've probably found a place back home that caters to those in need of massage - it's Hawaii, after all - but he doesn't think any of them would be as thorough as this. He sighs deeply into the sheets. "And not as good as this."

"I was talking about significant others, you goof," Danny snorts as he keeps moving and slides off of Steve's back in order to start massaging his calves and his feet. "Not masseuses."

"Oh," Steve replies, more of a groan than an actual response, shifting his head against the bed as he muffles another sound into the mattress. "Then no, I didn't."

Danny smirks as he focuses for a while on the backs of Steve's thighs before moving to his ass and his hips, really working out some of the tension to his hips. "Jesus, you can definitely tell you went running," Danny mutters.

"Needed to do - ah, something," Steve hisses, hitching his legs apart a little more while Danny's hands move up the back of his thighs and inward. "I never feel right unless I get a little bit of cardio in."

Danny shifts back up to sit on Steve's waist, focusing on his mid-back. "Well, that's just a shame then," he sighs. "You used up all your cardio with your running, now you don't get any sex."

"I didn't use it all up," Steve softly insists, deliberately shifting his hips underneath Danny. "If I'd run the whole loop I normally take, that would've finished me for today."

"Nah, I'm the one massaging out your tension," Danny says, but he's pretty much seeing how far he can go with this before Steve calls him out. "And you're just way too tense. Sorry, baby, no sex for you today. You ran too much."

"Well, alright then," Steve murmurs, hiding a grin against the inside of his arm, his eyes still closed and relaxed, his body betraying no other outward sign of his amusement at the whole thing. "I think I'll survive. Might be a close call, but I'll make it."

Danny grins and pinches at Steve's hip before giving him a nod. "Turn," he orders, shifting so that he's on his knees and suspended above Steve to give him the ability to turn over.

Steve rolls, shifting his weight back as he turns so he's moving in place without disrupting the position of Danny's knees. He smiles lazily, relaxed and fond, looking up at Danny's face and reaching down to squeeze the top of his thigh. "Thanks, D."
