Steve's not really in the habit of drawing much attention to his birthday. In the past, there'd be no telling whether or not he'd even be around to celebrate it, so he'd usually settle for the yearly call from Mary - when she remembered - and leave it at that. He knows Danny's fully aware of when the day is, but he's not anticipating some big party, especially since they just got done having the wedding.
He's coming back from his run with every intention of swimming, maybe surfing - anything that will get the sweat off, mostly - and he spots Danny and Neil before he rounds the path down to the hut, already breaking into a slow smile. "You looking to head out there?" he asks, motioning from Danny to the board, catching his breath with a mild furrow of his brow. "Didn't know you surfed, Neil."
