There aren't many bad days on the island, but when they arrive, they're bad. Either he's missing Grace furiously or he's missing being a father or he's missing New Jersey and even Hawaii. Today, his bad day has been compounded by the fact that he'd found another video and he'd stupidly decided to watch it. An hour later, Danny's gaping at the blank television screen and he feels ridiculously nauseous.

He makes it back to the hut, though he's not sure how, and when he gets there, he heads straight for the second room and stops in the doorway as he takes in Steve. He's wearing the damn glasses, he's looking so healthy, and he's not wearing a stupid ninja-outfit and he's not twitching on the ground, about to be arrested.

He's also not the man giving Danny another child.

God, it stings how much he wants that. Danny gapes at Steve, feeling wrecked, and it's not helped by the fact that the video with Steve's arrest hadn't been the only one he watched. He'd watched his brother abandon his family and abandon him. He'd watched Rachel and himself get closer, and now he's staring at Steve helplessly, a broken sound caught in his throat because he just doesn't know what to do.
