[Ten Years AU]

Sure, his father would have his head if he talked crap about being unable to do anything at forty-four, but Danny's knee has been bad since high school and ten years straight of working with Steve McGarrett has rendered him half-useless. Hell, having McGarrett's name attached to his, that'll do the trick. He's been sitting around the shopping mall for hours with his daughter's purse in his lap and he's thinking that this is the kind of torture that Rachel should be enduring.
He'd never trade time with Gracie for the world, but when she's in a change-room putting on dresses to pick one for prom, he doesn't really count it as together-time so much as him getting put in a chair while he stretches out his knee and his back and Steve roams around the store.
"I can't believe they told me I can't chaperone," Danny mutters, flexing out his leg, one hand protectively on Grace's purse.
