There is one giddy thing about being home. Two, actually. One, he got to call Gracie and hear her voice, promise her that he'd be there as soon as school was out. And two, he has his pain meds. He's been sitting on the beach since Kono left him, toying with his phone and well-aware that he needs to talk to Steve.
Steve might not remember a damn thing. And then Danny will be right back to square one and he hates square one. Square one is frustrating and annoying.
In the end, he sucks it up and gets out the phone, flipping it sideways to write: GOOD MORNING, BABE before sending it to Steve, and that's all. He tucks the phone away and just waits for his fate.
